In memory

This page contains information about the guineapigs, that I unfortunately have lost during time. There are both pictures and information.

Sofiendals Athene

My beloved girl, you were pregnant (about 8 weeks), but unfortunately one of your babies died inside you.

Saturday you suddenly started feeling were ill, and we toke you to the vet. Unfortunately, he did not notice the dead baby eventhough you were scanned :( Later you aborted the litter, but already at this point in time the dead baby had had a toxic effect on you.

You got some medcine later from the vet, but unfortunately, it was too late and you died about 24 hours after you started feeling ill.

Date of birth: 3/5 - 2006

She died: 2/9 - 2007

We definitely loved you, and we already miss you alot! Unfortunately, there was nothing we could do for you. I still have your son though, Thunder Gold von Felix, and I really treasure him!

You died very quickly and feeling safe in my arms.

Hey Ho Silver von Baggins

Poor little Silver unfortunately never got to be old. He was at the vet a couple of times in the last 6 weeks of his life, and now it was not possible to do anything more for him. He died very peacefully in my arms.

Date of birth: 30/5 - 2006

He died: 24/8 - 2007

He was an absolutely lovely boar, and he just loved human contact. We definitely miss him and we will never forget him! He was always a small boar, but he definitely made more than up for that by being so charming and currious.

Unfortunately, he never got to father a litter, so I do not have any babies after him. But I guess that was just not ment to be.

RIP my beloved beautiful Silver!

Hey Ho Silver von Baggins

This little girl was called Hope. I wanted to keep her, but unfortunately, she was not strong enough to make it. Her weight was no more than 58 g., when she was born.

Date of birth: 10/4 - 2007.

She died: 17/4 - 2007.

Rogue

This picture was taken about 2 hours after she was born, and she decided to jump, and she landed just when I toke this picture :)

Date of birth: 12/2 - 2007

She died: 19/2 - 2007

I wanted to keep this lovely little girl myself, but unfortunately, I only had her for a week. She was ill and struggled to hard to stay alive, but in the end she had to give up.

She is really missed and she had an extreme impact on us eventhough, she was only here for a week.

LIllebebs Platin von Felix

Date of birth: January 14th 2006.

She died: november 22nd. 2006.

Lillebebs was from the first litter, that was ever born in my small caviary. When she was a baby, she could not figure out how to get milk from her mother and therefore I had to feed her. I connection to that Lillebebs and I had some both tough and wonderful times together, both day and night. Because of that she always felt extremely safe and calm, when she was held by people, specially myself. Because of that, I must admit, that even though I love all my cavies very much, she will always have a very special place in my heart!

Right now, so shortly after her death, it hurts to even look at the other cavies.......a very special one is missing :(

Despite the tough times with both her illness and now death,  I am so unbelievebly greatfull and I feel so lucky because I had 10 wonderful month with her! And I would not trade that time for anything in the whole world!!!!

Now you are running around in the green fields filled with dandelions. You are running around there with Felix and the beautiful baby you had in your belly!

I will for ever love and miss you, noone can ever replace you!

Thank you for everything, my sweet, sweet girl!

In time, I will write about her illness! But I can say this, noone really knows, what was wrong with her, it was very strange!

Unfortunately my poor Felix only manage to be 2½ years old. He died in august 2005.

He kept on fighting till the end, but he ended up dying in a very, very unfair way.

Sunday we discovered that Felix had developed a very bad diarre, and we toke him to the vet. Among other things the vet gave me some antibiotics (for 5 days all together), and we brought him back home.

The following days Felix lost alot of weight (he did not eat anything at all). Wednesday he also had breathing difficulties and he was completely exhausted, so I brought him back to the vet.

It turned out that poor Felix had had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics, which in turn had filled his lungs completely with fluid. He was admitted right away and stayed at the vet.

Despite the tough odds Felix managed to survive untill friday, where I brought him back home from the vet. He was still having breathing difficulties, but nevertheless he was doing little bit better.

Sunday he suddenly started running around, eating vegetables and hay.

Whenever he had been running around he had a very hard time breathing and was gasping for air. During that sunday he also looked at his feeding bowl several times, but he never eate anything from it untill sunday night.

We had been hoping so much for Felix to eat something from his feeding bowl, and sunday night it happened. Sunday night Felix went up to his feeding bowl, and toke some food. Just when we were about to selebrate, Felix gasped for air, because he had been running around a bit first, and the horrible result was, that poor, poor Felix got the food down the airways and choked.

He was dead in a matter of 20 seconds and all we could do was to watch him died. We were both completely horrified.

That night we both wept because of Felix death. Felix is still very much loved and we miss him so unbelievebly much. He will never be forgotton and so my caviary is also named after him.
